My spring detail plan: Wash int/ext, Rims/tire wash, Clay bar, polish, 3x wax coats.
That all goes a long way after a whole winter not being washed.
The pics are actually during 2 different detailing sessions during the break, but i'm just going to pile them together. (you'll note in one session it was prior to getting my new tires).
Okay, let's begin with some dirt carnage pics

That was all after a drive up/back to Kingston.
Hey look. I killed a BEE!!!!

dirty dirty mats. some salt stains too

dirt in all the chair crevices

rims & tires all dull and lifeless...

using the dad's bose radio and my ipod for music =D

so quick rinse to loose some things up.

which did basically nothing.
time to bring in the soap and products. too much stuff to name. my collection.

soap for the car: normal car soap + dawn dish soap which removes old car wax

got the wash going on with the mats too

so got the car all soaped and scrubbed. here it is after rinsing the soap off. the water beading is messy and not uniform, which means there's pretty much no wax left =\

soo all dried up but with no finish

some of my fav products are the ones for tires/rims in making a difference on the car. left: rim wax, right: tire shine

before products

after

so the car is all clean, but still no polish/wax yet.

interior looking much better

soooo clay + polish time.

I also had a finishing polish... but didn't get a pic of it.
So the point of using clay bar is to remove contaminants stuck into the paint. here's a sample:

Those all iddy bits are stuck to the paint good. after the clay it's all gone =).
So pre-polish there is still some reflection.. but it isn't very deep or glossy or anything.

so into the garage to do the polish+wax. still pre-polish here

now post polish time =D

anddd add some wax!

oh... here are the meaty new tires =D

reflection time!

so when you have a nice layer of wax on a car it'll bead up nicely since the surface is super slick and smooth. voila!

is your car still this shiny...
