2010 randomness.

So here I am @ SLC 3rd floor, a place I’ll find myself quite often every Monday and Tuesday this term with such a scattered schedule, but that’s alright since it gives me some good time to do some work, blog and be hungry =S. In any case, this post was intended for yesterday... but just thought I’d throw together a few random notes to celebrate 2010. Enjoy!

pho + blizzard + driving to Loo = bad news bears.

Unfortunately, the blizzard in this case is not of the Dairy Queen variety (it’s too cold for

that anyways). I just wanted to throw out my random complaint of the day. Usually I don’t mind traffic and I can deal with it... because it just gives me time to think. But with a combination of one extra factor... it can really complicate things. In any case, an annoying snowfall in Toronto caused the highways to be quite a mess and things to go quite slowly...

It’s not just traffic... it’s an opportunity to practice your patience!

So as mentioned, usually I’m fine with traffic... but the added X factor was dealing with enormous amounts of itis following a large 101 bowl of pho after church. NOT FUN... And leads to a very bored and tired Derek, struggling to survive amidst all the crazy other drivers on the highway. Ahhhh.

Yes... that’s my.. i’m bored, tired and partially annoyed but content face.

why I don't set new year resolutions.

I mentioned in my last post why I don’t make new year resolutions. In short, I think they’re kinda lame. And not only because of how failsauce they are statistically, but I don’t really believe in many ‘one time things’. If you’re trying to be a new person or to bring about change in your life... do it. While minor adjustments here and there are definitely necessary (Make Adjustments. Go Get it Energized!!! HIMYM reference.) I’ve always believed in just ‘being’. It’s not a one time thing or just trying to set goals to reach... just be awesome. Everyday. Be everything you were created and intended to be and run with it. Everyone is capable of being ambitious or stringing fancy words together to make it sound like 2010 is going to be the best year ever, but really what we need to do is just live it. Rough times will come... your new year resolutions will be hard to meet (or I’m sure you’ll break them), but what counts is the perseverance to just keep being... despite circumstance. I find setting new year resolutions provides an excuse to give up once you fail it... and maybe that’s just me, but I’ve always found more reward in just pushing myself to the limit and extending the boundaries of what I thought was possible. BE AWESOME, people. I’ll be posting up on thelifemuse talking about attitude and extend some of these thoughts... but as for now, I present to you, the Shrek list! (yes, copyrighted).

Okay. That’s just about the end of my randomness for the day.

In other news... masters seems a bit intense and scary. But I’m sure it won’t be too bad once I really get into the right mindset again. Looking forward to UWCCF and what will be happening this term. It’s going to be aweesssommmmeeee. Let’s do it up, 2010!

DQOTD: What is your favourite animated Disney/pixar character?

A: BUZZ LIGHTYEAR. I’m planning a post on why once I have some more time =p. Stay tuned!
